Prices have been rising steadily since Q4/2025, and in some cases sharply, depending on the product group. It all started with the AI boom. Initially, graphics cards were affected, but this then spread to RAM and SSDs. Since these components are found in all PCs, notebooks, and servers, prices rise significantly once existing stock is sold. Furthermore, availability is deteriorating considerably due to insufficient stock on the market. Servers are particularly hard hit, and even components not directly affected, such as hard drives, are driving up prices. Many analysts expect this trend to continue for several years, as AI demand shows no signs of abating and production capacity cannot be increased quickly enough.
