Why did we choose Loxone?
Loxone is an innovative Austrian solution that, with its Loxone Config Tool, makes it very easy to implement customizations and expansions. Integration with many manufacturers and devices is possible.
Initially, the focus was on user-friendliness for lighting and shading. Now, energy saving and energy management are playing an increasingly important role.
Furthermore, the entire house can be monitored and controlled even when you're away.
What did we do?
- Control of the external blinds and the sunshade according to season and sun position

News
The Vaillant heat pump has been integrated with Loxone. This required a VR921 and a Miniserver Gen2 for communication with the EEBUS. Loxone can now read and write data from the Vaillant heat pump. The new Miniserver Gen2 acts as the gateway/concentrator, while the old Miniserver Gen1 is now a client. The entire configuration, including KNX, was easily transferred and can continue to be used without any changes. A key advantage of the Miniserver Gen2 is that no port forwarding is required on the firewall.
To better utilize the surplus energy from solar power for our own use, I am developing and optimizing an algorithm in the PicoC module for preheating the hot water storage tank to a higher temperature. Once this is fully utilized, the underfloor heating will be slightly increased.
2024: The Brevetto Aroma DG Plus ESE PAD coffee machine, with its manual operation, has been retrofitted with a Nano Air IO module, integrating it into the smart home. This allows for automatic on/off switching and brewing automation tailored to individual needs. I have created four programs for a ristretto, espresso, cappuccino, and lungo.
2026: Thanks to the Loxone integration for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the driveway gate can now be opened and closed directly from the car, without a remote control or mobile phone.
What could we do for ourselves?
Our Burgenland Energie annual statement for October 2022 and the advance payments for next year have decreased. However, we are not yet satisfied and want to save even more energy and use more of our own self-generated energy.
