SSL runtime reduction
Since March 2026, the technical validity period for publicly trusted SSL/TLS certificates has been reduced to 200 days (approximately 6 months). One-year contracts still exist, but they are now issued in installments at consecutive intervals. It is strongly recommended to replace manual renewal with automation, such as using the ACME protocol (Automated Certificate Management Environment).
According to CA/Browser Forum Ballot SC081v3, there is a transition period between March 2026 and March 2029 during which the validity periods for SSL certificates will be gradually reduced from 398 days to a maximum of 200, 100, and 47 days. Please note that some CAs may switch to the shorter validity periods a few days earlier. Here is an overview:
